In his year-end message, the police commissioner praised all police units that have been working to fight the scourge of drugs in 2022. He especially mentioned the Special Striking Team. The performance of this unit, which operates under his own supervision, was described as ‘remarkable’. Anil Kumar Dip expressed his pride that the police have been able to nab both Mauritian and foreign traffickers. He announced that in 2022, 260 kilos of drugs, worth about Rs 1.17 billion, were seized.
Anil Kumar Dip also announced the promotion of 49 officers to the rank of Sub-Inspector and the seizure of Rs 1.17 billion of drugs during the year.
The Commissioner of Police said he was satisfied with the sense of duty shown by the police after the return to normal post covid.
The year 2022, according to him, was particularly eventful, during which the police force had faced headwinds. But has demonstrated its determination to maintain law and order.
