It was predictable! The police commissioner is contesting their release on bail. It was therefore clear that Akil Bissessur, Avinash Bissessur and Doomila Moheeputh would resist the Central Barracks boss’s motion. The three CPR motions were called before the Chief Justice, Bibi Rehana Mungly-Gulbul, this morning. Solicitor Ayesha Jeewa, who represents the three, objected to the motions in question. She asked for more time to respond to the police commissioner’s affidavits. The Bissessurs and Doomila Moheeputh were arrested on 20 June following a controlled delivery operation carried out by the Special Striking Team. This followed the seizure of 1,022 tablets, suspected to be ecstasy. They were released on 26 June after the Director of Public Prosecutions indicated that he had no objection to their release on bail.
