The Mauritius Athletics Association (MAA) has presented a list of 27 athletes to represent Mauritius at the African Athletics Championships to be held in Mauritius from 8 to 12 June in Cote d’Or. It is composed of 20 boys and 7 girls.
If the boys are mostly represented in the sprint, the girls are only represented by Oceanne Moirt (100m). The surprise of the chief remains the preselection of the former tennis woman Malika Ramasawmy in the 800m.
According to Paramasiven Samynaden, the president of the WADA, “the doors to selection remain open as several athletes on the shortlist have not yet met the minimum qualification requirements for the African Athletics Championships. The selection will be made official at the end of the national championships which will take place on 6 and 7 May.
