Admissions Forms To Academies Available By 24 August

They are for the attention of parents of students in grades 9 and 9+. In a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon, the Department of Education warned parents that the forms will be available as from 24 August for all pupils applying for Grade 10 in an academy in January 2023.

Those eligible to apply are:

(i) The student should have been entered for the NCE Assessment October 2021-2022 as a school candidate.

(ii) The student of Grade 9 (Regular Programme) should not have reached the age of 18 on the 1st of January 2023.

(iii) The student of Grade 9+ (Extended Programme) should not have reached the age of 19 on the 1st of January 2023.

The forms must be completed and returned by Wednesday 31 August. Parents will need to attach the student’s original birth certificate and a copy of the parent or responsible party’s National Identity Card. The Ministry of Education has also announced a list of criteria that must be met, that is, the student must be registered for the October 2021/2022 NCE exams, the Grade 9 student must be under 18 years of age on 01 January 2023, the Grade 9+ student must not be over 18 years of age on 1 January 2023.

The forms will be circulated to the state institutions of the concerned students. For private students, forms should be collected from the Department of Education offices in Zone 1 at the Mutual Aid Bulding in Port Louis, Zone 2 at F. Herchenroder Street in Beau Bassin, Zone 3 at Rose Belle- opposite the Grand Port District Council and Zone 4 on the 2nd floor in Ebene Heights.

Note that the colleges converted to academies are : le collège royal de Port-Louis et celui de Curepipe, John Kennedy College, Sir Abdool Raman Osman State College, Sookdeo Bissoondoyal State College, Sir Leckraz Teelock State College, Queen Elizabeth College, Dr Maurice Curé State College, Forest-Side SSS, Droopnath Ramphul State College, GMD Atchia State College et le Mahatma Gandhi Institute.
