Scheduled to kick off on November 21, the Qatar World Cup is exciting fans who have expressed their excitement for the massive show on social media. Amid all the fun and excitement, there is a caveat for football fans – No Sex!
Fans have been warned that one-night stands can result in seven years behind bars at this year’s Qatar World Cup. Even FIFA has taken note and urged fans to comply and be on their best behaviour. According to an article published by Daily Star, no one-night stands will be allowed at World Cup. Apart from this, fans also have to “be prepared” as partying is a strict no-no too.
“Sex is very much off the menu unless you are coming as a husband-and-wife team. There definitely will be no one-night stands at this tournament. There will be no partying at all really. Everyone needs to keep their heads about them, unless they want to risk being stuck in prison,” a police source was quoted by the Daily Star report.
“There is essentially a sex ban in place at this year’s World Cup for the first time ever. Fans need to be prepared,” the police source added.
The decision by FIFA to let Qatar host the World Cup has come in for criticism from many quarters. The new instructions have only made the matters worse. Although FIFA responded by saying the ‘all are welcome’ at the World Cup that kicks off in November, grassroot reality is actually poles apart. There are reports that those with different surnames are not getting a chance to book and share hotel rooms.
Drink and party culture after games are normal activities for fans and most places where the World Cup has been held have openly embraced this culture, yet such actions could get you a jail term in Qatar. Earlier it was reported that those fans who attempt to smuggle drugs into Qatar could possibly face a death penalty.
Senegal and Netherlands will face each other in the World Cup opener to be held on November 21, 2022. The World Cup will conclude with the final being played on December 18.
