A subsidiary of the Leal group specializing in the distribution of pharmaceutical products, PNL has doubled its order to meet a growing demand for antigen self-tests due to the increase in cases linked to Covid-19 in the country. Thus, two arrivals per week instead of one are expected as of from the 31st of August. The enthusiasm for these single-use tests is also explained by their effectiveness, their ease of use and their affordable price of Rs 300 in pharmacies. “We also face logistical challenges. Because the self-tests are from Wuhan in China. And we don’t have direct flights to that destination. However, we want to reassure the Mauritians that as from next week, self-tests will be available in pharmacies, ” PNL said in a communique. As a reminder, despite regular delivery from the supplier, the demand for antigenic self-tests has taken off with hundreds of positive cases recorded per day. Many Mauritians rushing to the pharmacy in the event of suspected Covid-19 contamination.
