The hearing of the Head of Government in the case concerning the election petition of defeated candidate Suren Dayal continued Thursday morning before Justice David Chan and Justice Karuna Devi Gunesh-Balaghee.
Questioned by his lawyer Ravind Chetty, the Prime Minister maintained that he had nothing to do with the news on MBC. He added that it is the Director-General who is responsible for everything related to news.
He added that the chairperson and the Director-General of the MBC are appointed by the responsible minister which is the Prime Minister.
Pravind Jugnauth was also questioned on the refreshments served during the celebrations of International day of the elderly in 2019. He stated that everything was paid by the Ministry of Social Security who organized the event in Pailles. A company was contracted to provide 5000 briani trays for the occasion at a cost of Rs 471 500.
