A plot to murder Madagascar’s President, Andry Rajoelina and his key ministers was unveiled by the Prosecutor General of the country Hight Court of Appeal yesterday. Berthine Razafiarivony stated that police had arrested many suspects, including foreigners who were plotting to kill President Andry Rajoelina. According to several sources, the country received information from a foreign country ‘s secret services that there was a plan to kill Andry Rajoelina and his close ministers.
Among the suspects are two experienced military commandos, one of whom overthrew Ivory Coast President Laurent Gbagbo some years back.
The plan was to kill Rajoelina and creates a transition government until further notice.
The President has up to now not express any comment on the arrest of these two military commandos.
Madagascar is facing tough battles in many spheres, namely the covid pandemic, a severe drought and famine in the south and political tensions between opposition parties and former allies of Rajoelina, now in the Opposition.
