The Home Of Two Homeless Families In Vallée Des Prêtres

Must Read

A group of seven individuals, led by a Vallée des Prêtres resident, broke into the home of a local resident on Monday January 8, before ransacking several panes of glass from her window with a sword and club.  The victim was a 25-year-old woman working as a cashier at a fast-food restaurant in Grand Baie. They then went to her sister-in-law’s home to commit the same act.

The incidents took place at around 11:15 a.m. on Monday January 8. The complainant was in her yard with her baby on her lap when she saw a man named Mana coming in her direction with a group of seven people. They were armed with sabres and clubs. Without wasting any time, she ran to her house and locked herself inside with her baby. The man called Mana and the other people in his company began to ransack her door and a window with a sabre and a club. She was wounded in the left eye with the handle of the saber held by this man.

After leaving her house, the men went on to attack the house of her sister-in-law, who lives at the same address. The complainant believes that the man attacked her family in revenge, as he has a grudge against her brother-in-law. The damage caused is estimated at Rs 12,000. She confided to the police that she was able to identify only Mana among the seven other individuals.

Although she was not injured, she said she had pain in her left eye. She asked to be examined by a doctor. An investigation into the case has been launched by police officers from the Abercrombie, St. Croix police station.
