Terry Smith, Chief Executive of Fundsmith, will sponsor the Liverpool Football Club International Academy for the third consecutive year. Launched in July 2019, the Liverpool FC International Academy has trained over 300 teenagers aged between 12 and 17 and employs 25 local coaches.
Terry Smith who manages investment worth over $ 33 billion on behalf of some of the largest wealth managers and private banks in the world through Fundsmith, now lives in Mauritius. In 2019, he answered the call when the club and the local authorities called for financial support from the private sector.
In a recent statement to the local media, he says that he shares the passion for football with the Mauritian people and is willing to continue to support the growth of football in Mauritius. Training should resume at the Cote d’Or Stadium by next month following a long break off the field because of the pandemic.
The Mauritius LFC International Academy is led by Neil Murphy, Head Coach, who has formerly served in a similar position in Japan between 2014 and 2019.
