Only six horses are carded for the main race of this Saturday. It should be a duel between Captain Mike and Alaskan Night on paper. Captain Mike has beaten Alaskan Night the last time they met.
Captain Mike will be making his first appearance since changing trainer to join Vincent Allet’s yard. He seems to have progressed further with two races under the belt, and he was brilliant during his gallops.
His performances have also caught the eye till now with a win and a second place. He has got a good draw and he will have the sprint specialist, namely, champion jocley 2021 Dinesh Sooful, in the saddle. Captain Mike will try to win from pillar to post and he will be the horse to beat.
Alaskan Night is also a strong contender for victory. He won impressively last time with the second finishing more than 4 lengths behind.
The Amar Sewdyal-trained horse is in a top physical condition. He can race in front or he can follow the leader and show up at the finish.
It is good to know that these two horses had met on the 28th day being beaten by Desert Boy. That day, Captain Mike had beaten Alaskan Night to finish second.
Etched In Blue has never confirmed its unique success in Mauritius in 2021. He has a good draw, and he will be ridden by an apprentice claiming 2 kilos. He will be a decent outsider. We can expect better from Portico who showed some improvement last time.
