Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth officially launched the Rose-Hill – Quatre-Borne Metro Express route this Sunday, June 20 at 10 a.m. This inaugural ceremony has been broadcasted live on our Facebook page. This project constitutes phase 2A of this large-scale project. This launch was made in the presence of K. Nandini Singla, High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, the Mayor of Quatre Bornes and some guests. Then the delegation of personality made the inaugural trip Quatre Bornes – Rose Hill in 5 mins. This first LRV left the station at 10:45 am to go to Rose-Hill.
Now the service is fully operational between Quatre Bornes and Rose Hill. For Pravind Jugnauth, this public transport system aims above all to improve the lives of Mauritians. The head of government also spoke of the Metro Express extension project from Rose-Hill to Réduit.
The trip between Quatre-Bornes and Port-Louis will cost Rs 40 for adults and Rs 20 for children and students. On the other hand, the price of the ticket between Quatre-Bornes and Rose-Hill will cost Rs 20 for adults, Rs 11 for children and Rs 14 for students. The metro will be free for the elderly, students and the otherwise able.
A shuttle service will be set up and will serve the outlying regions of Quatre-Bornes such as Résidence Kennedy, Ollier, Palma, Berthaud Ave, Bassin and Sodnac, among others. It is argued that with the inauguration of this new phase of the project, an additional 5,000 to 7,000 passengers are expected to use the Metro Express.
