Liz Truss, Elizabeth II’s third female Prime Minister
On Monday 5 September 2022, the British Conservatives nominated Liz Truss as their new Prime Minister. On Tuesday, she will go to Balmoral Castle to meet the Queen and be appointed as the new Prime Minister.
Appointed to the Ministry of Women and Equalities and then Foreign Secretary under Boris Johnson, the new Prime Minister, who is often compared to Margaret Thatcher, intends to lead the country with an iron fist.
The new British Prime Minister, who came from the Liberal Democrats and was initially opposed to Brexit, has changes her position in recent years and recent months. This turnaround enabled her to win against her Conservative opponent, Rishi Sunak.
