A meticulously planned operation on Thursday morning, August 25, led to the arrest of Axel Marco L’éveillé for drug trafficking in Kennedy Estate, Quatre-Bornes. This followed information obtained that this 21 year old man was involved in drug trafficking. His arrest was made by a team from the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Western Division. The suspect was found in possession of eight hundred and twenty-two grams of cannabis, one hundred and seventeen grams of heroin and one hundred and thirty-one grams of synthetic drug and the sum of Rs 89,000 suspected to be from the sale of this drug. The market value of the seized drugs is Rs 3,067,600.
It was around 7.30am on Thursday 25 August that the men of Chief Inspector Rajeev Subbareddi and Inspector Fowdar, under the personal supervision of Adsu boss, Assistant Commissioner of Police Choolun Bhojoo, carried out a raid on the home of Axel L’éveillé at L’Esperance Avenue, Kennedy Cite, Quatre-Bornes. The raid resulted in the discovery of a large quantity of cannabis worth Rs 657,600, heroin worth Rs 1,755,000 and synthetic drugs valued at Rs 655,000.
The suspect was taken to the Adsu office in Rose-Hill for questioning. He was later taken to the Rose-Hill court on a provisional charge of drug trafficking. Axel L’éveillé was taken back to the police cell.
