On his Facebook profile, it is stated that the PTr leader and former Prime Minister underwent a medical examination on Friday morning at Welkin Hospital. Afterwards, he underwent a “minor operation”, as well as the installation of two stents. His health is stable and he is doing well.
Remember, early this year, on September 9 , Ramgoolam, 74, was brought to Delhi on a special medical evacuation flight and admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre as advised by the government of India. His condition was serious at the time of admission because he had severe lung damage and required high levels of oxygen support. The Former PM had said, “My condition was bad. Very bad. But the doctors at AIIMS, especially professor Guleria (Dr Randeep Guleria, AIIMS director), helped turn the situation around.”
Despite being a doctor, Ramgoolam said he had committed the mistake that he had always cautioned others about — self-medicating. “When I developed symptoms of Covid-19, I did not visit the hospital immediately,” he revealed. “I treated myself. It led to complications.”
