Fisherman From Roche-Bois Arrested For Drug Trafficking

A team of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Western Division has on the basis of certain information mounted an operation at Line S, Roche-Bois Residence. On Monday, November 29, Stephen Phils Selmour, a 35-year-old fisherman, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking.  He was found in possession of 43.7 grams of synthetic drug, worth Rs 218,500, seventy-six cannabis seeds, worth Rs 7,600 and the sum of Rs 31,000. Money that is suspected to come from the sale of this drug.

This Adsu team had information that Stephen Selmour was involved in drug trafficking in this locality of Roche-Bois. Thus, after hours of surveillance, these police officers led by Chief Inspector Ashik Jagai, Inspector Fowdar and the sergeant searched the house of Stephen Selmour around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, November 29. The information of these policemen turned out to be true. Four transparent bags containing synthetic drugs, 43.7 grams, seventy-six cannabis seeds and the sum of Rs 31 000 were seized.

A raid was also carried out at the home of a relative of this sinner. However, no drugs were found at his home.   Stephen Selmour was brought before the court of Port-Louis on Tuesday, November 30. He is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking. He was kept in a police cell.
