Rs 500,000 Worth Of Spare Parts Stolen From An Excavator

A 46 year old man, owner of a JCB and an excavator, filed a complaint at the Lallmatie police station for theft of spare parts from his excavator which was parked at Riche-Fond in the village of St-Julien. The stolen goods are estimated at Rs 500,000.

This inhabitant of Lallmatie reported this theft during the day of Thursday, November 18 at the police station of his village. In his complaint, the forty-year-old explained that the excavator, which was broken down, had been left on a piece of land in Riche-Fond, far from the houses. It was during the morning of Wednesday, November 17, that he noticed that various spare parts on his excavator had been taken away. These are, a hydraulic part, a radiator, an air cooler, hydraulic oil, a CTPR housing, electrical parts, a metal engine casing and a diesel pump.

His excavator, he claimed in his deposition, had been parked on this land in Riche-Fond since October. No security guard was assigned to the site. The Criminal Investigation Division of Flacq is working with elements of the Field Intelligence Office to track down the perpetrators of this theft. These investigators have begun to investigate the spare parts stores.
