Twice, the Leader of the Opposition has asked the Minister of Health to resign. The first time was during the Private Notice Question and the second time was during a press conference in the afternoon. Xavier-Luc Duval accused the Minister of Health of lying and manipulating the figures related to the spread of Covid-19 in our country. Coming back on the figures given by Kailesh Jugutpal, especially on the number of deaths at the ENT Hospital in October, Xavier-Luc Duval has stated that the situation is only getting worse there.
The leader of the opposition, Xavier-Luc Duval believes that Mauritius must seek international expertise to help “save lives” as he refers to the spread of the Covid-19 and the related deaths.
The Opposition leader was very hard on the minister, who according to him, seems to take the people of Mauritius as his patients. Xavier Duval thinks that Mauritians must draw their own conclusions on the competency or incompetency of the government in this regard. What shocks the Xavier Luc Duval is that despite the number of victims, the Minister of Health is satisfied and proud of his work.
During the various times that the Leader of Opposition has called for his resignation, the Minister of Health replied that only the Prime Minister can call for his resignation.
