Yatin Varma Files Complaint Against Police For Failure To Comply With Supreme Court Ruling

The President of the Bar Council is accusing the Police of brutality. Yatin Varma claims that he was pushed around by the Police this morning. The scene took place in front of the building housing the new Supreme Court.

Yatin Varma is the legal representative of Slovakian Pater Uricek. This entrepreneur holds a work and residence permit in Mauritius but is accused of being a drug trafficker. Slovakia demands his extradition.

Yatin Varma said he succeeded in obtaining an injunction of the Court preventing the deportation of his client but according to him, the police went ahead and arrested his client. The latter will be deported.

Yatin Varma tried to prevent the Police from leaving with his client.

Since this incident, he has been alleging that he was pushed around by the police and that the Police haven’t been respecting a decision of the Court. For him, “we are living in a dictatorship.”

Accompanied by several of his lawyers among them Rama Valayden, Ashley Jurhangee, the president of the Bar Council, Yatin Varma made a statement to the police in Sodnac for a Criminal Contempt against the State who fail to comply with a Supreme Court order.

Peter URICEK, Slovak Citizen, is a Fugitive

Mr Peter URICEK is wanted by the Slovak authorities, namely the Specialised Criminal Court in Pezinok, Banska Bystrica, for the purpose of criminal prosecution for the offences of-

  1. establishing, masterminding and supporting a criminal group, for which Mr Peter URICEK is liable to a term of imprisonment of five to ten years; and
  2. illicit manufacture, possession and trafficking in narcotics and psychotropic substances, poisons or precursors, for which Mr Peter URICEK is liable to a term of imprisonment of twenty to twenty- five years or life imprisonment.

Mr Peter URICEK was identified by Slovak Authorities since 2015 as forming part of a criminal group involved in illicit drugs trafficking.

For the period of 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, Mr Peter URICEK and other members of the criminal group provided precursors – pills for the production of methamphetamine weighing 2.544kg, in the total amount of EUR 4,800,000, of which approximately 480kg of methamphetamine were produced in the value of at least EUR 16,800,000.

On May 21, 2020, the presiding judge of the Specialized Criminal Court in Pezinok, Banská Bystrica, issued against Mr Peter URICEK an International Arrest Warrant.
