The Ukrainian leader confirmed multiple missile strikes reported before dawn today. Zelensky said the strikes began at 4 a.m. local time on Friday.
So in the wake of the start of the Russian offensive, Westerners fear that Moscow’s troops will quickly seize the capital in an effort to “decapitate the government.” President Zelensky deplores his country’s military isolation.
He added that the Russian strikes had targeted military and civilian sites. Russia has previously stated that it did not target civilians.
But as we reported earlier, the capital Kiev was the scene of explosions this morning, including what appears to be a strike that hit a residential building.
It’s 7:30 in the morning in Kiev. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky addresses his citizens again in a video address. In Ukrainian and Russian, he appeals to Russia for a ceasefire. “Russia will have to talk to us sooner or later about how to end the hostilities and stop this invasion,” he said.
In the meantime, threats against Russia are growing.
