The former director of the Trust Fund for Specialised Medical Care was summoned this morning to the ICAC headquarters. She was questioned under warning before being placed under arrest. It should be recalled that her arrest follows the investigation of the Icac on her salaries. She has been the subject of several investigations in this regard. She was summoned several times by the ICAC. The question of her salaries was the subject of a “Fact Finding Committee” at the time. Vijaya Sumputh had resigned from her position on March 30, 2017.
It is to be remembered that Vijaya Sumputh has resigned as head of the Trust Fund for Specialised Medical Care in March 2017. She said to the press: “I made the decision to submit my resignation after much thought. I was humiliated by Minister Husnoo,” The then monister of Minister of Health, Anwar Husnoo, stated in the National Assembly that Vijaya Sumputh receives a salary of Rs 323,000 per month. He gave this information after a question by MMM MP Rajesh Bhagwan. Following this, the Minister of Tourism and former Health Minister, Anil Gayan, said that Anwar Husnoo’s answer lacked honesty.
