Valayden And Attock Announce Civil Suit Against The State And Nine Police Officers

Rama Valayden, his client Wayne Attock and the latter’s wife held a press conference on Thursday. They announced a civil suit against the State and the nine officers of the anti-drug squad who participated in the operation at Wayne Attock’s home in Baie-du-Tombeau. The lawyer also demanded the suspension of these officers. He also appealed to the Commissioner of Police to use the ‘Body-Cam’ (body camera) by the police during raids.  It should be recalled that 78.8 grams of heroin, worth Rs 1.1 million, were discovered by the anti-drug squad at the home of Wayne Attock, aged 28 years, in Baie-du-Tombeau on 17 November.  Three vehicles and a boat belonging to the suspect were also seized. After spending 21 days in custody, Wayne Attock was released on bail on Tuesday 13 December.

After three weeks in preventive detention, Wayne Attock was finally released. The young man, living in Baie-du-tombeau, was granted parole this Tuesday, December 13 in the court of Pamplemousses. A development occurred after the prosecution decided not to object to this request. Provisionally released but not without conditions, the pig farmer, also had to pay an amount of Rs 100,000 for bail and sign an IOU of Rs 500,000.
