At a private college in Rose-Hill, a teacher found a grade 8 student in possession of a piece of cellophane paper containing cannabis, two cigarettes mixed with tobacco and cannabis leaves, and a notebook of rolling papers.

It is a young maintenance worker of this denominational college, who acted as a support officer, during the annual field day at the Maryse Justin Stadium, Reduced, who found a student of form five with a transparent cellophane paper in his hand in the toilet. This was at about 1:15 p.m. on Monday, March 20, during an inspection in the restroom. When questioned about it, the college student said, “gandia sa”. Police officers from the Moka police station, who were summoned to the scene, took the teenager to the police station for questioning.

It was around 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, that a teacher at a private high school received information about an illegal transaction at the school and questioned a 14-year-old student in grade 8. The student soon confessed that he was in possession of drugs. The college management was informed and immediately called the police. A team from the Family Protection Unit arrived at the school. The student was taken to the Rose Hill Police Station for questioning.

He was asked to remove a piece of cellophane paper containing a quantity of cannabis, two cigarettes mixed with tobacco and leaves suspected of being cannabis, and a book of rolling papers in the presence of a police officer.

In both cases, these students were allowed to leave after giving their statements. A search of their homes turned up nothing.
