Rs 960,000 is the amount of fifty cannabis plants that were discovered at the home of Jean Noel Louis, a 55-year-old shopkeeper in CHA, Olivia on Wednesday morning, September 14. This operation was carried out by the men of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Eastern Division based on certain information.
It was around 10am on Wednesday 14 September that the police raided the home of shopkeeper Jean Noel Louis. The information of Inspector Motee’s men proved to be true. Fifty cannabis plants grown in pots and measuring between ten and fifty centimetres were found. The suspect was arrested and placed in a cell at the Vacoas detention centre on the orders of the assistant superintendent of police, Bancharam.
On the same day, at around 4.45pm, police officers from Adsu Mahébourg, led by Sergeant Gunesee, arrested Ajay Pariapen, 35, of La Chaux, Mahébourg, after a search of his house. The police seized 11.96 grams of heroin (Rs 179,400) and the sum of Rs 11,975 which is suspected to be from the sale of this drug.
On the other hand, Joseph David Jonathan Perrine, 30, a resident of NHDC Apartments, Pavilion, Cap-Malheureux, was apprehended at his home on Wednesday, September 14, at around 5.30 pm. This after the men of Sergeant Helene of Adsu Trou aux Biches found a small plastic container containing forty-five doses of heroin, 6.67 grams (Rs 100,050) and a sum of Rs 13,975. This money is suspected to be from the sale of this drug.
The three will be in court on Thursday, September 15. They are facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking.
