A 37 year old contractor residing in Mauripark, New Grove and his two friends were assaulted by four individuals on the evening of Friday, January 13. The three friends were in the middle of a conversation at the junction of a road in this locality, when four individuals disembarked at this place in a van. These individuals, two residents of the locality, one from Rose-Belle and another from Vieux Grand Port, began to assault them with a knife and punches.
The three friends were in conversation under the porch of a store when a van stopped there. Four men got out. One of them, a local resident, began stabbing one of his two friends in the right forearm. He says he intervened to spare his friend. It is at that moment, he says, that the individual dropped his knife to attack him. He was punched in the neck and ribs. At the same time two other men, had to start beating his other friend. He had to push the one who was attacking him to go and help one of his two friends who was being attacked. The latter, who was injured on his right hand, was bleeding profusely.
His other friend managed to get away. He had to drive the injured one to his home before going to the Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle. He was accompanied by his friend who had run away. The contractor who had pain in his right ribs and neck had also examined himself. His injured friend was admitted to the ward.
The police of Rose-Belle opened an investigation on this case of aggression.
