The exercise will be held at the GMD Atchia State College, Port Louis, and will be conducted by the Acting Master and Registrar Wendy Rangan. She will be assisted by Raj Seebaluck and Mehdi Manrakhan. The court officers will count some 28,169 valid and 1,796 invalid ballots in the presence of all parties involved, including the Electoral Commissioner and Jenny Abebiro. The results will afterwards be announced the same day at Our Lady of Victories School in Rose Hill by Senior District Magistrate Kevin Moorghen. He was the Returning Officer in the 2019 elections. This recount of the ballots is caused by the election petition in the Supreme Court of the defeated candidate of the Mauritius Militant Movement in the 2019 general elections. Justices Denis Mootoo and Aruna Devi Narain, on 21 January, ruled that a “recount” of the votes was necessary. As a reminder, there are only 92 votes between Jenny Adebiro and the elected Ivan Collendavelloo in this election.
