The French Government Declassifies Mauritius From The List Of “Scarlet” Zone Destinations

Must Read

The great family of Mauritian tourism welcomes this evening the decision of the French government to declassify Mauritius from the list of “scarlet zone” destinations in only a few days. Here is the joint statement of the public/private committee of the tourism sector:

We would like to warmly thank the Ambassador of France, Her Excellency Florence Caussé-Tissier, whose intervention was decisive, for her support.

With tonight’s announcement, travelers vaccinated with an EMA-approved vaccine (Pfizer / Comirnaty, Moderna, AstraZeneca / Vaxzeria / Covishield, Janssen), can resume their travel to Mauritius. Restrictions are, however, applicable to non-vaccinated travelers.

As the priority remains the health and safety of the tourism industry, the traveler and Mauritians as a whole, the strict arrival protocols related to COVID-19 remain in effect. All visitors to Mauritius are required to be vaccinated and PCR tested within 72 hours prior to travel, as well as further testing upon arrival and in the days following.

Two months after the opening of our borders, the tourism industry has already met its share of challenges and remains united in the face of a recovery under unprecedented conditions. The entire value chain that defines the industry – airlines, hotels, restaurants, attractions, tour operators and travel agencies, cabs and others – remains mobilized to ensure that this recovery of Mauritian tourism is a success.
