Cédric Axel Marjolin, 17 years old, did not survive his injuries sustained in a road accident this Sunday morning, August 14, on the road to Rivière-Noire in Petite-Rivière. The Pulsar motorcycle driven by this resident of Cité La Cure collided head-on with a Nissan van. The teenager, seriously injured, was taken to the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The autopsy performed attributed his death to multiple injuries.

This tragic accident occurred at approximately 6:36 a.m. on Sunday, August 14. The motorcycle and this van were driving on the road to Black River coming from Petite-Rivière and heading towards Bambous. As the teenager was passing the van, which had turned on its blinker to make a right turn onto Nundloll Lane, the motorcycle he was riding collided head-on with the right side of the van. The impact was so severe that the young man was thrown to the asphalt. Both vehicles were damaged.

The teenager was evacuated to the Dr. Jeetoo Hospital by an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service. After first aid was administered, the teenager was admitted to the intensive care unit. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 9:15 am.

The driver of the van, 41 years old and resident of Cité Vallijee, was submitted to an alcohol test, which proved to be negative. The autopsy performed at the Dr. Jeetoo Hospital morgue by Dr. Maxwell Monvoisin, Principal Police Medical Officer, attributed his death to multiple injuries.

The driver of the van was brought before the Bail and Remand Court in Port-Louis this Sunday morning, August 14, on a provisional charge of manslaughter. He was later released on bail.
