Jean Vicky Torap has been sentenced by the Assizes to undergo 12 years of penal servitude. The accused was found guilty of possession of 534 tablets of subutex, of an estimated worth of Rs 1.4M in July 2018.
The ADSU had carried out a search in his house in Port-Louis. Though he lives in the same house as his father and brother, the accused stated that his relatives were not in the subutex dealing and took full responsibility for the drugs seized.
Judge Lutchmeeparsad Aujayeb stated that the accused will also have to pay a fine of Rs 75,000 for the offence under which he had been found guilty.
