Sri Lankan Cricketers Driving Buses In Australia To Make Ends Meet

Former Sri Lankan International cricketers are now working as bus drivers in Melbourne, Australia. Also working alongside them is a Zimbabwean cricketer. The three of them work for Transdev, which has 1200 people on its rolls and provides transport for the people of the city of Melbourne.

Former Sri Lankan spinner Suraj Randiv and Chinthaka Jayasinghe are now employees of Transdev and drive buses around the city. Former Zimbabwean cricketer Waddington Mwayenga is also in the same profession.

The three of them say they have found fulfilment but still intend to play in the Big Bash League in Australia. All of them practice regularly and are looking for a chance to play.

Suraj Randiv was part of Sri Lanka’s squad at the ICC 2011 World Cup in the subcontinent and even made it into the eleven of Sri Lanka in the final against India at Wankhede. He was also Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s teammate at Indian Premier League side Chennai Super Kings.

Former Afghanistan ministers work menial jobs

Since the collapse of the Afghan government and the takeover of the Taliban, a number of former Afghan ministers have moved abroad. Some of them are doing menial jobs just to earn a livelihood.

Khalid Payenda, who once presented a $6 billion budget in Kabul now drives an Uber in Washington DC. Speaking to The Washington Post, Khalid claimed that he earns a little over $150 in a day’s work.

Khalid also said that he is working hard daily to complete his targets. “If I complete 50 trips in the next two days, I receive a $95 bonus”, he said.

Former communication minister of Afghanistan works as a delivery man in Germany. Sayed Sadaat moved to Germany last year in December. He has been seen in Leipzig city on a bicycle with a massive courier bag on his back.

Talking about his work in an interview the former minister said he did not mind and that a job was a job. He works as a food delivery man and despite holding degrees in communication and IT, Sadaat was unable to find a suitable job in Germany.
