The local music is in mourning. Singer Lin passed away today around 6 pm at Jeetoo Hospital. Hospitalized since last Thursday, his condition suddenly deteriorated.
Lin’s funeral will take place this Tuesday, September 28, at 3:00 pm, at the Cathedral Saint-Louis in Port-Louis. He will then be buried at the cemetery of Pailles. The group Otentik Groove will pay a last tribute to him at his home around 1pm. We learn that Avinash Teeluck, Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, paid a visit to the bereaved family today.
We no longer count his hits. Lin, whose real name is Linley Abdool Ramane, passed away early this evening at the age of 43.
Mike, his brother, is inconsolable: “He started to suffer from his kidneys. Then he had other complications that led the doctors to hospitalize him. He was later diagnosed with a lung infection. This morning his condition worsened so much that he was transferred to the intensive care unit. We learned of his death around 6:00 p.m.”
If for the moment we do not know much about the funeral of the singer, everything leads us to believe that the community of artists will not fail to pay him a fervent tribute: “He was one of us and the least we can do to honor his memory is to cover his songs at his funeral. But for the moment we don’t know how it will be done,” explains Ashley Pereira, an artist close to the deceased singer.
It should be noted that Lin first became known with the group Negro pou lavi in 2001. He later launched his solo career and in 2011 released his first solo album entitled Enn dimans gramatin. In 2016, he released the album Mo recompans with the group Otentik Groove. In his last article in Le Matinal, he spoke about his collaboration with Désiré François on the song Dilo disik.
