Rs 25 Million Spent On Extension Of Schools

The Supplementary Appropriation Bill, that is the Budget, has reached the level of committee of supplies. This means that that the various allocations are under scrutiny. Hence, when her Ministry was being studied, Leela Devi Dookhun Luchoomun, Vice-Prime Minister Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology revealed that only Rs 25 million on a budget of Rs 90 had been spent on projects regarding extension of schools. She was questioned on the increase in budget for rental of line for network services. The sum rose from Rs 6 million this financial year to Rs 32 million in 2021-2022. She explained that every school is now connected to the Internet. She also explained that security must be increased in primary schools at night. This explained why the allocation rose from Rs 47 million to Rs 76 million. She also said that her ministry must acquire devices and electrical installation. Therefore, the budget under item “Equipment for Early Digital” rose from Rs 60 million to Rs 230 million. Lastly, she said that the number of rectors will rise from 47 to 63 because some who are on acting ship will get promoted. Moreover, the number of Support Teacher will also rise from 235 to 470 because in some cases two are needed.
