On Monday, May 22, 2023, the Acting Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues, Franceau Grandcourt, conducted a handover of leases to 85 persons at the Antoinette Prudence Center, HRDC, Malabar. So far, the regional government has allocated a total of 1067 leases.
12 former villagers of Ste Marie village received their leases from the hands of Acting Chief Commissioner Franceau Grandcourt and Tourism Commissioner Alain Wong So on Monday afternoon during a ceremony held at the Cascade Jean Louis Community Center.
As a reminder, the beneficiaries were relocated as part of the new airstrip project. The Regional Government will continue to accompany and support the villagers so that they can regain their initial level of comfort.
