Covid is intensifying both in Rodrigues and Mauritius. According to the latest count, we have 135 new cases in the last 24 hours and in our 10th district, 710 positive cases since the explosion of cases.
Mauritius counts 2 admissions in the New ENT Hospital, where 1 death has also been recorded on 31st January. This was a 72-year-old female patient from Grand Gaube. The regional hospitals have 24 new admissions in the Covid Wards.
Rodrigues has 7 patients admitted to Mount Lubin Hospital, including 2 dialysis patients and 3 children under the age of 12 years. The possibility of a variant circulation is not yet announced.
The island is under curfew from 7pm to 6am. A medical delegation under the supervision of the Director of New ENT Hospital, Dr Soobaraj Sok Appadoo, has been dispatched to the island and the self-isolated positives are benefiting from the intervention of the Domiciliary Monitoring Unit (DMU).
Vaccination is progressing with 981,764 people receiving their first dose and 932,740 their second and 361,402 people the third/booster dose.
