A site visit was organised, Wednesday morning, by the Ministry of National Infrastructure and Community Development, along B104 road in Chamarel for the delegation from Rodrigues currently in Mauritius.
The objective of the visit was to showcase the Landslide/ Slope Stability Treatment works being carried out along B104 Road (Baie du Cap – Chamarel – Case Noyale).
The Minister of National Infrastructure and Community Development, Mr Mahendranuth Sharma Hurreeram, accompanied the Rodriguan delegation. The mission is headed by the Deputy Chief Commissioner, and Commissioner responsible for, among others, Infrastructure including Highways and Roads, and Public Buildings and Utilities, Mr Franceau Aubret Grandcourt.
It is recalled that works being executed in Chamarel involve, amongst others, the construction and widening of existing road over approximately 1.4 km; excavation in mountain slopes using specialised blasting techniques; construction of drainage structures and gabion retaining structures; hydroseeding, and installation of rock-nets and soil/rock nailing.
The Rodriguan delegation also effected a site visit, yesterday, at Belle Source in Pamplemousses, to take stock of the work in progress as part of the flood mitigation measure of the National Development Unit and the Land Drainage Authority.
