A raid by police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of Abercrombie, Sainte Croix at Baxipia Street, Roche-Bois on Sunday, January 22 at the home of an individual suspected of being involved in illicit trafficking proved to be well founded. Tareshwar Imrith, known as Prakash, 25, was found in possession of 8.15 grams of heroin. The market value of this drug is Rs 125 000. This suspect was brought before the court of Port-Louis on Monday morning, January 23. He is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking.
It is after hours of surveillance that the men of sergeant Conhyedoss searched the house of Tareshwar Imrith under the supervision of inspector Jeean. This search resulted in the discovery of a cigarette box in which there were three plastic parcels wrapped with adhesive tape containing heroin, twenty-six doses, twenty doses and seventeen doses respectively. The total weight was 8.15 grams. An electronic scale was also seized.
Tareshwar Imrith was kept in police cell. An investigation has been initiated to know the source of this drug.
