Yesterday morning, The United States (US) Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Mr Richard Rahul Verma, paid a courtesy call, on the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, at the State House in Réduit. In a statement, Mr Verma highlighted that his meeting with the President was very cordial, and discussions focused on issues that interconnect the United States and Mauritius, including economic relationship, security partnership and people-to-people ties. He underlined that this relationship is built upon shared values and democratic principles. “The two countries have done so much together that the future is very bright between us,” the US Deputy Secretary stated.
After the president, Richard Verma had a meeting with Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth this morning. They discussed how to continue working together to ensure a safe and stable Western Indian Ocean region. In a statement after the meeting, US Deputy Secretary Verma underlined those discussions with the Prime Minister pertained to reaffirming the United States of America commitment to the bilateral ties it shares with Mauritius.
