Resignation Of Sherry Singh : Politicians Are Waiting For The Reason!

Must Read

Sherry Singh’s resignation is causing a stir. Politicians have devoted a lot of their attention to cheer his resignation but also to criticize the former CEO of Mauritius Telecom for his commitment to the government and Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth for 15 years and 7 years at the head of Mauritius Telecom. They are waiting for more clarification, especially on these alleged deep differences.

Hope is waiting!

On Thursday 30th June, during the weekly press conference of the l’Entente l’Espoir at Quatre Bornes, the four leaders commented on the resignation of Sherry Singh. Xavier Duval opened the ball. “We will encourage Sherry Singh to say whatever needs to be said. He knows best what spices are used in the kitchen“, he said in a sarcastic tone. For Nando Bodha, “the government’s kitchen is on fire” and announced that he was waiting for further denunciations on this possible resignation. For the Leader of the ‘Mauves’, Paul Bérenger, “we are waiting and we are observing the future consequences, which will follow this resignation of Sherry Singh“, as he refers to the dilapidations of the government in Mauritius Telecom, Air Mauritius and State Bank. He added that “if we do not give serious attention, we risk ending up like Sri Lanka“.

The MMM Leader also hinted that “we are preparing for the municipal elections, which will be held before the end of this year” and made it clear that the PTr is not yet ready to play the game. However, he said that due to lack of funding, the municipalities will not be easy. “We have no money for these municipalities” but that they cannot do otherwise, “as they face of the government’s Money Politics“.

Reform Party Leader, Roshi Bhadain praised Sherry Singh for his “courage to resign and the way he did it“. He explained that Sherry Singh was dealing with “dictators“, who had asked him to do things against his values!

PTr skeptic

Arvind Boolell remained skeptical during the press meeting on Friday, saying “this resignation was premeditated. Sherry Singh does not have the moral right to remain silent about the reasons for his departure.”  He explained that the population is waiting for answers on this departure but also, on the role he played in the management of Mauritius Telecom for the last 7 years and of the taxpayers’ money. However, he mentioned that the MT has recorded a shortfall of Rs 98 million since 2014.

The enigma around Sherry Singh

The reasons for Sherry Singh’s departure are not yet clear, simply that he had no choice but to do what the government has instructed him to do but the latter preferred not to engage in it anymore. It has also been reported that Sherry Singh no longer shares this strong bond of friendship since 2020, and sources also told us that since 2020, there has been a campaign of degradation against the achievements and the person of Sherry Singh as CEO of Mauritius Telecom. The sources further state that Sherry Singh is politically motivated to raise a ‘tsunami’ against the current government but no mention was made of any interest or connection with any party in question. The sources made no secret of the fact that Sherry Singh feels that the country’s leadership is in peril and that he believes that a revival is essential in the face of modern challenges. But one thing is of public interest, Sherry Singh has declared war on the government and the Jugnauths!
