A motorcyclist, who was driving on the road to Vingt-Pieds, Triolet this Wednesday morning of August 10, was intercepted by a team of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of Trou aux Biches. A search of his person allowed the seizure of 8 resealable plastic bags, with a certain quantity of cannabis in each bag. Subsequently, a search was made at his home in Le Hochet. Terre Rouge, which allowed to find a cannabis stem, a resealable plastic bag containing 50 cannabis seeds, another bag with 51 seeds and 11 cannabis plants measuring between 9 and one meter and a half. The whole is estimated at Rs 80 000.
It is around 10 am this Wednesday August 10 that this suspect, Ootam Bhaugeeruth, alias Sanjeev, a 41 years old driver, was intercepted on his motorcycle by this team of the ADSU, led by the chief inspector, Valaydon. The suspicious looking man was subjected to a search and 6.91 grams of cannabis were found in his possession, all of which were distributed in 8 plastic bags.
Shortly after, a raid was made at his home in Le Hochet. These police officers discovered a cannabis stalk, a plastic bag with 50 cannabis seeds, that is 1.12 grams, and another bag with 51 seeds, that is 1.14 grams and eleven cannabis seeds measuring between 9 and one meter thirty, weighing 1.2 kilo.
Ootam Bhaugeeruth was taken to the ADSU office in Grand Bay for questioning. He was then taken into custody. This Thursday morning, August 11, he will be brought before the court of Pamplemousses where he will answer to a provisional accusation of drug trafficking. This investigation is under the supervision of the assistant superintendent of police, Rajendranath Jhurry.
