Queen Elizabeth II Leaves A Secret Letter Behind To Be Opened In 2085

Must Read

Queen Elizabeth II has left a mystery behind her. This mystery is an unopened letter of hers which remains locked in a vault in Sydney, Australia.

The catch is that the letter she wrote in November 1986 should not be opened until 2085, that is 63 years from now and 100 years from the date of its writing.

The letter is inside a vault in the historic Queen Victoria building in Sydney and is addressed to the people of Sydney. The letter has created a mystery as no one, meaning absolutely no one is aware of the contents of the letter. The letter is absolutely inaccessible as it is kept in a glass case in a very secure location. The interesting part is that the letter would go down in history not only because of its writer but also because it is the only letter to be read after the longest wait.

The Queen wrote the secret letter to mark the restoration of the historic building which was built in the year 1898 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, Elizabeth II’s great grandmother.

The Queen while writing the letter also wrote specific instructions on it. The details included the time at which the letter is to be opened. It is addressed to the Lord Mayor of Sydney. The instructions read: “On a suitable day to be selected by you in the year 2085 A.D, would you please open this envelope and convey to the citizens of Sydney my message to them.”

The letter is signed as “Elizabeth R.”

Following the Queen’s death, Sydney’s Opera House was lit up to pay tribute to the longest reigning monarch of Britain. Australia on Sunday proclaimed King Charles III as the head of state, the first new monarch in 70 years.
