Premier League: Liverpool And Tottenham Lose And Arsenal Draw

Must Read

Beaten a few days ago at Old Trafford, Tottenham lost again to a good team of Newcastle, which is now in the top 4 of the Premier League (1-2). Winner of his last eleven home games in all competitions, and very solid against Manchester United on Wednesday, Lloris was at fault for the two goals signed Wilson (31st) and Almiron (40th). On the first, the French goalkeeper missed his exit, leaving his goal empty, before missing his recovery on the second. Despite Kane’s goal (54th), the third-placed Spurs saw the fourth-placed Magpies come back to within two points.

After thwarting Chelsea’s plans and giving Manchester United a run for their money earlier this season, Southampton once again made their mark by holding leaders Arsenal to a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday. The Saints, who were 16th at the start of the game, got off to a poor start when Granit Xhaka, who was in the middle of a run of form, once again used his precision right foot to beat Gavin Bazunu on the half-volley (0-1, 11′). The first half was one-way traffic for the Gunners, who nevertheless struggled to convert their big chances (25th, 39th, 44th) and left their opponents alive.

On Saturday, Liverpool fell into its weaknesses… After two consecutive victories in the Premier League, the Reds fell at Nottingham Forest (0-1) this Saturday for the 13th day. After a good start, Jürgen Klopp’s team had difficulties to accelerate and were punished in the second half with the opening of the score by Awoniyi (55th). Saved several times by Alisson afterwards, Liverpool pushed in the last moments, but was hampered by a great Henderson.

The Reds continued to create chances but were unable to find a way through. On the other hand, Nottingham Forest, despite creating fewer chances, found the back of the net with the opening goal of former Reds striker Taiwo Awoniyi in the 55th minute.

The Nigerian’s goal proved to be vital as it turned out to be the only goal of the game.

With this defeat, Liverpool has not won any of its first five away games in a Premier League season for the first time since 2006-07, under the Rafael Benitez era.

Haaland in great form

The Sky Blues relied on their monstrous striker to win against Brighton & Hove Albion. In the space of 20 minutes, the Norwegian made the difference with an authoritative double: a powerful solo effort to open the scoring and a penalty after Gross had fouled Silva for the break.

Haaland

Earlier, the same Haaland and Grealish also claimed penalties, while De Bruyne tested the gloves of Sanchez. At the other end, Welbeck attempted an off-target lob, and Trossard seemed to have forgotten his scoring instincts… until the Belgian cut the deficit just after halftime and a big chance wasted by Mahrez. Game back on track? Yes, but Mac Allister sent his shot over Ederson’s goal. Finally, if Laporte could have put the final nail in the coffin with a header from a corner, it was De Bruyne who extinguished the suspense by finding the top corner and taking advantage of a great job by Silva. So, while waiting for the Arsenal game, the Citizens are back to a small unit of the Gunners.

Man Utd manages a draw against Chelsea!

Last Saturday, Manchester United and Chelsea (1-1) left each other as good friends during the 13th day of the Premier League. While they had dominated during most of the game, the Mancunians of Ten Hag, who were playing without a sidelined Cristiano Ronaldo, didn’t score and ended up being punished at the end of the game on… a penalty by Jorginho (86th). But as a new disillusionment was looming, MU finally equalized at the end of the suspense thanks to the Brazilian Casemiro (90th+4).

With this result, the Londoners made an 8th game without defeat under their new coach Graham Potter and are ranked 4th in the English championship. The Red Devils, on the other hand, remain 5th.
