In a letter to Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth yesterday, Federation of Civil Service and Other Unions (FCSOU) President Narendranath Gopee asked the head of government to appoint an independent person to chair the committee on the correction of Pay Research Bureau (PRB) anomalies.
He stressed that the PRB should not chair the committee because the last report raised the ire of civil servants. “As you are aware, the Pay Research Bureau Report 2021 is being strongly disputed both by the Staff Associations and the public sector employees. It is an utter disgrace to the public service today that after having been remunerated over the past six years, the PRB has come up with an empty report. One that neither ventilates the policy of your Government to revamp the public service nor enhances efficiency and productivity,” the FCSOU President stated in the letter, indicating that the PRB will not be able to correct its own mistakes. That is why an independent figure should be appointed to carry out this work properly.
“In view of the weaknesses running through the entire report, the Federation is of the view that the PRB cannot work out its own Errors, Omissions and Anomalies Report. In this context, we make this kind request to appoint an independent person to carry out this review,” the FCSOU President concluded in the letter.
