Must Read

Deadline this May 27

The aim of Linion Pep Morisien is clear namely, to lower the price of petrol from Rs 74.10 to Rs 53. They have given Pravind Jugnauth until this Friday to make his final decision known. What will be the fallout of the Government in the face of these warnings from LPM?

No illegality

LPM was as vocal as ever at its press briefing on Wednesday 25 May. The leaders said that they had acted legally on Tuesday 24 May and that there was no need to question them for ‘Unlawful Vehicular Procession’ or ‘Infringement of the Public Gatherings Act’ or to summon the 20 vehicles listed. “The instruction of the ‘Operation Go-Slow’ was to drive at 20 km/h. There was no procession as described. We did not use flags, banners, or voice carriers. The traffic jam was caused when ASP Seeparsand stopped me for questioning. We did not do anything illegal,” argued Bruneau Laurette. The Linion Pep Morisien also denounced a campaign of intimidation and demonization against them.

PM: “They are trying to destabilize the country”

Following these events on Tuesday, the Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth spoke openly about the Go-Slow Operation in the streets of the capital.  The PM deplored these positions and actions. “They are creating disorder and they are trying to destabilize the country”. During this outing against LPM on the occasion of the inauguration of a “Sub-Hall” in Réduit and another in Moka, the PM made it clear that “the 2022-23 budget will be difficult because of a lack of visibility on the economic situation… The country is facing inflation… There are risks of shortages of certain products that cannot be purchased.” Speaking about subsidies, he also warned that “the funds are limited”.

LPM warning

Linion Pep Morisien is looking forward to the end of the Council of Ministers’ session on Friday 27 May. Activist, Bruneau Laurette has already warned that “if the government does not lower prices, we will come this time with flags, banners and megaphones, but also with two sewerage trucks. When and how we will do it, nobody will know in advance. They won’t expect us ! »
