Shania Twain, Canadian singer- songwriter, will be the recipient of the Music Icon award at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards.
As is announced earlier, another big music star, Lizzo will receive People’s Champion Award this year.
Accompanying in receiving the People’s Icon Award will be actor and budding director Ryan Reynolds.
While the singer will receive the award, she will also perform many of her greatest hits along with her new song “Waking up Dreaming” from her forthcoming sixth album Queen of Me.
The album will release on February 3 next year. This will be her first appearance on the PCAs stage since 2005, when she took home the award for favorite country female singer.
The Grammy award winning singer is known for hits like ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’ and ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’.
Twain is renowned for songs like “Man! “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “I Feel Like a Woman!”
In a statement, Twain said, “I’m so incredibly honoured to be named ‘Music Icon.”
She further said, “I have some of the greatest fans in the world. They have supported me since the early days, and it’s their love and passion that keeps me going. I’m thrilled to go back on tour and bring my new music and fan favourites to them, and what better way to start than at the People’s Choice Awards!”
Kenan Thompson, best known for hosting Saturday Night Live, will preside over the event. He will be hosting the renowned awards event for the second time in a row. Twain, who is referred to as the “Queen of Country Pop,” was most recently spotted in the Netflix documentary “Not Just A Girl.”
