The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games of Tokyo begins this Friday afternoon, July 23, at 1500 Hours. The Olympic Games of Tokyo, postponed in 2020 because of the pandemic of the coronavirus, will take place until August 8, 2021. The Paralympic Games will be held from August 24 to September 5.
After one year of postponement and uncertainty related to the pandemic of Covid, the opening ceremony is going to give Friday the official kick-off of the Games of Tokyo. This edition out of the common, deprived of public, is already confronted with the appearance of several cases of Covid.
Five years after the launching of the Games of Rio in the fervor of the Maracana stadium, transformed in giant sambodrome with Gilberto Gil and Gisele Bündchen in star, the celebrations announce themselves much more felted and modest.
The evening will take place almost behind closed doors, as almost all the events of the Games, and only a few hundred VIP will have the right to attend. Among them is the President of the Conference Guy Parmelin, who must briefly talk with the Emperor Naruhito that day.
The 2021 version of the ceremony is expected to be “simpler and more sober” than previous editions, the organizers warned, in order to stay “in tune with the health situation” and reduce the risk of contamination. The race against the Covid and the daily assessment of the tests made on the participants have besides punctuated the news of the days preceding the Games.
Richarno Colin will be the flag bearer for the male team and Roilya Ranaivosoa, for the women.
