The Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, received a delegation from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), led by the Director of Global Relations and Co-operation, Mr Andreas Schaal, in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Mr Renganaden Padayachy, yesterday afternoon, at the New Treasury Building, in Port Louis.
In a statement, Mr Schaal informed that the deliberations during this first technical meeting focused on a new form of cooperation through the forthcoming launching of the OECD Country Programme for Mauritius. Such Country Programmes, he indicated, have been designed and implemented in Egypt, Morocco, Thailand, Vietnam, and will now be initiated in Mauritius.
Mr Schaal further pointed out that several priority areas encompassing investment, business environment, corporate governance, financial sector, gender equality, climate change and carbon mitigation approaches have been discussed with the Prime Minister. Meaningful discussions on the content as well as the instruments and tools to be deployed for effective policy formulation, will be ongoing, making headway toward the inception of the programme, he added.
