New Rules For The Resumption of Masses In Church

Must Read

Following the announcement of the Prime Minister authorizing the opening of places of worship from this Thursday, July 1, Cardinal Maurice Piat has recommended that the clergy follow the following instructions to respect the maximum number of 50 people in the church:

For Sunday Masses:

Parishioners are invited to register with the parish office to attend one of the Sunday Masses. To allocate places, the principle of “first come first serve” should be applied. To the person who has not had a place, the secretary will propose another mass.

The secretary will keep the list of people who came to each Mass, will transmit it to the reception service and will keep it, in case of contact tracing.

To allow as many parishioners as possible to participate in the Sunday Mass, it will be suggested to those who have already participated in a Mass to leave the place to other parishioners.

Each parish is invited to give priority to welcoming people while maintaining the essential control to respect the instructions of the state authorities.

It would be good to continue to broadcast one or more of the Masses online, so that parishioners who could not physically attend the service, can follow a celebration.

For weekday Masses:

For parishes where, on weekdays, more than 50 faithful attend Mass, the same registration procedure is recommended.

Weddings and funerals

According to the new guidelines, until further notice, 50 people will be admitted to weddings and funerals.

Baptisms

The same measures apply for the preparation and celebration of baptisms.

Catechesis

It is possible to have meetings of parents and/or children within the limit of 50 people.

The parishes have also been asked to ensure the application of health security measures (taking temperatures, wearing masks, sanitizing at the entrance, social distancing).
