The management of MTC Sports and Leisure Limited (MTCSL) would like to state that it has submitted all the documents and clarifications requested by the authorities in order to be re-granted the race organiser’s licence. We have also made the necessary arrangements, on numerous occasions, for the payment of this license to be accepted. We are now waiting for an answer from the Ministry of Housing and Lands for the use of the Champ de Mars.
As of this writing, we have no official reason to believe that this license will not be granted to MTCSL.
However, it is imperative that it be granted as soon as possible. The past month has caused enormous concern for MTCSL and its employees, as taking away our only reason for existence – organizing races – puts us in an extremely precarious economic situation. We really hope that we do not find ourselves in a similar stressful situation this month. In the event that this license is not granted to us this week, we will have no alternative but to make drastic decisions.
We are convinced that common sense will prevail for the benefit of all, the committed employees, the grooms, the trainers, the support services, in short the great Mauritian family of turfists so that they can continue to enjoy this national sport and this beautiful heritage which has existed for over 200 years.
