MCB: Maternity Leave Increased From 14 To 18 Weeks

Must Read

Maternity leave is being extended from 14 to 18 weeks for MCB Group employees as part of the Group’s commitment to make gender equality a priority in its sustainability strategy, ‘Success Beyond Numbers’.

In addition, two additional weeks of leave, i.e. 20 weeks, will be granted to employees giving birth to more than one baby or from their third child.

The MCB Group is committed to promoting a balance between work and family life. With this in mind, the breastfeeding break will be extended to 9 months after the birth of the child, instead of 6 months, as provided for by law.

It should be remembered that since July 01, 2021, MCB Group has doubled the paternity leave to 10 days, and firmly believes that these new measures will accelerate the dynamics of gender equality.

This year, to illustrate the annual reports of the MCB Group, MCB Ltd and our Sustainability Report, the group has chosen to highlight women from various backgrounds and professions to celebrate their contribution to the economic life of Mauritius. This editorial choice, aimed at celebrating the Mauritian woman, was an obvious choice. We are more than ever attentive to the issues of our employees in balancing their professional and personal lives. The extension of maternity leave will give mothers more time to welcome their child and to choose the most suitable childcare method for their situation. These new measures are in line with our commitments to accelerate the dynamics of gender equality and the well-being of our employees’, underlines Pierre-Guy Noel, CEO of the MCB Group.
