Salim Raja, Senior Officer Information System at Mauritius Telecom, was arrested by the MCIT on Thursday. He has already been provisionally charged of “conspiracy” before the Port-Louis court. Salim Raja is alleged to have acted with MT’s Chief Human Resource Officer in June 2022 to delete electronic data belonging to the former CEO of Mauritius Telecom, Sherry Singh. Salim Raja was released on bail of Rs 20,000 and after signing an IOU for Rs 75,000.
Following an IT audit trail exercise ordered by MT’s new management, IT department officials found that data linked to the former CEO had been deleted from Mauritius Telecom’s main server. According to the investigators, the facts date back to June 2022, the period corresponding to the resignation of the former CEO, Sherry Singh.
